Bring on the jungle vibes with the popular Alocasia. Widely known as Elephant Ears or African Mask, the Alocasia family has about 80 different species and can be commonly found in Borneo. With its striking foliage and structural appeal, Alocasia are regarded as collectibles by plant lovers – enhancing any interior or exterior spaces.
General Care:
Light
Alocasia need bright, indirect light. Avoid placing your plants in areas with direct sunlight as the heat may burn the leaves. To ensure even growth, rotate your plant daily If the foliage of your Alocasia is thinning, it could be an indication of receiving too much sun.
Water
Alocasias may be susceptible to root rot and fungus infection if the plant is waterlogged. Water when top soil is dry and allow excess water to flow through the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot.
Fertiliser
Feed your Alocasia with plant food once a month.

Why are the leaves turning yellow?
One of the most common causes of yellow leaves are due to overwatering and it is recommended to stick to a regular watering routine. Ensure that the water flows from drainage hole at the bottom of the plant pot and remove any excess water in the saucer (if any) to prevent the plant from sitting in too long. Your Alocasias love humidity and they thrive best in indirect bright sunlight but they will tolerate medium light.
Why are my leaves turning curly?
If leaves of your Alocasia is curling, this could be due to the lack of proper care and environmental issues. It could be overwatering or underwatering, nutrient deficiency, pest infestation or over-fertilising.
