Hemigraphis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Acanthaceae. These plants are native to tropical regions of Asia. The genus Hemigraphis consists of several species, the most well-known being Hemigraphis alternata, commonly known as "purple waffle plant" or "red flame ivy."

Purple waffle plants are popular ornamental houseplants valued for their attractive foliage. They have distinctive textured leaves that are often purple in color, and the leaves have a waffle-like texture, which gives the plant its common name.

In terms of propagation, purple waffle plants can be propagated through stem cuttings. Simply take a cutting from a healthy stem, remove the lower leaves, and place it in moist soil or water until roots develop.
