Papaya trees are tropical plants native to Central and South America. They grow up to 10 meters tall, with a single trunk that branches out into several stems at the top. The leaves of papaya trees are large and deeply lobed, while their flowers have five petals in shades of yellow or orange. The fruit is pear-shaped and can range from green to yellow when ripe.
Papayas offer many health benefits due to their high levels of vitamins A and C, as well as dietary fiber. Eating papaya regularly has been linked with improved digestion, reduced inflammation, better heart health, stronger bones, increased energy levels, healthier skin and hair growth promotion. Additionally they contain an enzyme called papain which helps break down proteins for easier digestion.
